The City Council of Bend, Oregon, has pleaded with residents this week to stop sticking googly eyes to public monuments. The comedy eyes have sparked an internet sensation and brought much amusement to the city, but officials have urged the perpetrators to stop, citing costs of $1,500 to remove them. However, one Facebook commenter pointed out that it would cost nothing to leave the sculptures as they are.
