Hi friends,

I was lucky enough to attend the inaugural Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability Forum last week. A key takeaway for me was the idea that a time of 10x change demands a response of 10x the scale. 

We're in a moment of 10x change, and that demands a 10x response. 

Beyond the sun-kissed halls of Stanford, last week saw three moments point to the clear rise of a new, resilient economy:

1. In Colombia, 50+ countries gathered for the first international conference focused on transitioning away from fossil fuels. France is the first country to submit its national roadmap to phase out fossil fuels.

2. Across the Channel, UK Secretary of State for the Department of Energy, Security and Net Zero declared "the era of fossil fuel security is over" — painting a picture of heat pumps, wind turbines and EVs not as green idealism but as national security infrastructure. 

3. In Asia, for the first time in a century, renewables have overtaken coal. As Ember's analysts put it, the situation in the Middle East presents an urgent opportunity to shift to clean energy for good. Because for the first time in history, a superior alternative is available.
