A new world record for the loudest shout has been set by an Australian town crier, reaching 122.4 decibels — roughly as loud as a jet engine at close range. Joseph McGrail-Bateup, who has served as Canberra's honorary town crier since 2017, regularly puts his voice to civic use, making announcements at community events, school fetes and car shows (no microphone required!).
