Head of Climate

Government Energy and Climate Campus

Dear friends,

Happy September! With a handful of global climate weeks on the horizon, we hope you’re all excited for what promises to be an energising and productive few months in the run up to the end of the year.

Right now, we’re particularly focused on Climate Week NYC, where we’ll be heading in a couple of weeks to engage in conversations and events centred on building resilience. We’ve been cooking up a new programme of work that we’re looking forward to discussing in more detail whilst we’re there, and sharing with you all in due course!

Whilst we’re there, we will be hosting two events in particular that we want to draw your attention to:

Monday 21st September, 15:30–16:20 EDT, Hub Live NYC: Join us for a lively Dragon’s Den-style pitching session to hear from leaders about the single most important thing governments need to do to build resilience in this age of permacrisis. From capacity building to public-private co-operation, from leveraging finance to leveraging tech, how can governments adapt to thrive, not just survive? REGISTER HERE TO SECURE YOUR SPOT.

Wednesday 23rd September, 08:00–09:30 EDT: This closed-door session will bring senior government officials together with experts, funders and communicators to examine how together, we can support governments most effectively in building energy security for the decade ahead. If you have a senior official in town who is focused on energy security and may be interested in joining this conversation, please let us know.

If you'll be in the city that week, we would love to see you. Come find us, say hello and tell us what resilience and the climate landscape looks like from where you're sitting.

Warmly,
Fiona

    And finally...

A pilot scheme in Switzerland has found a clever answer to the "where do we put solar panels" problem. The answer: between train tracks. The panels are already proving effective, plus they're designed to lift out easily whenever the tracks need repair. A simple solution to nimbyism.
