| View in browser The Climate Frontline is a monthly newsletter brought to you by the Government Energy and Climate Campus.  In this month's edition... Introducing the Government Resilience Campus Meet Apolitical's 26 Resilience Leaders of 2026 And finally: Marines call in four-legged fire support FI MACKLIN Head of Climate Government Energy and Climate Campus Dear friends, As we enter into the month of October, we are starting to soak in the burnt orange and dark siena colors of the streets and parks in London. What have you noticed about the change in season, wherever you are in the world?   Some initial findings from our latest survey show that 83% of public servants across the global don’t feel their governments are prepared for the climate shocks we face. This is a massive gap we need to address urgently.   We’re just back from New York for Climate Week and the UN General Assembly, where it felt soberingly clear that we are in a race between two parallel realities: one of existential threat, driven by the rapid expansion of AI and the unravelling climate shocks hitting communities around the world; and one of exponential opportunity, where advanced technologies are leveraged to accelerate the advent of a new, cleaner, fairer global economy.   Against this backdrop, we were in town to do 3 things: Announce our emerging Government Resilience Campus, guided by a brilliant line-up of experts who will make up our Advisory Council for this Campus. Celebrate our 26 Resilience Leaders of 2026, who are driving phenomenal progress and change around the world. Host a dedicated discussion focused on how we can support governments to ensure energy security in this era of volatility, which will inform how we shape an academy dedicated to Energy Security within the new Campus. We will continue to build this out - and warmly welcome your input and thoughts as we do so! Warmly, Fiona Introducing the Government Resilience Campus The Government Resilience Campus will build on the energy and climate work Apolitical has supported and that many of you are part of. We're widening the lens to the systems every country depends on, including an initial focus on three prioritised areas: energy security, food security and marine protection.   We're building it with governments, experts and funders, with conversations we had at Climate Week New York already shaping what comes next. Register your interest 📣 Meet our 26 Resilience Leaders of 2026  Climate shocks, geopolitical instability and supply chain disruption are now operating conditions for governments everywhere. Our new list celebrates 26 people meeting that challenge, from Thailand to Sierra Leone to Kazakhstan.   Their work spans six areas of resilience: extreme weather, nature and biodiversity, community and social resilience, food and water, urban systems, and institutional governance and security.  Discover the list 💡 Early insights from our resilience research We asked public servants how ready they feel for an era of overlapping shocks, and the preliminary answers point to urgent work ahead.   Only 1 in 6 say their government is doing enough on climate. Climate ranked last on the list of resilience issues they feel their governments are prepared for, behind pandemics, disaster management and cybersecurity.   One finding points to a clear way forward. Those who have had relevant training are more than twice as likely to feel confident preparing for disruption.   The Government Resilience Campus is being built to close that gap and then aim higher, giving public servants the right training to prepare for the climate shocks they feel least ready for. And finally... A Marine Corps air station in California has drafted in 471 new recruits for wildfire prevention, all of them goats. The herd moved into Miramar's training area on 15 September for a pilot that officials say is a first for any US military installation. Its official name is Operation Goat Rope. The goats are on duty for five to six weeks, eating their way through the fire risk.
