What is happening to the weather?! Around the world, we know countries are being hit by increasingly intense weather patterns: scorching heat, heavy rains, battering thunderstorms or painful droughts. We also know that these weather events are no longer unusual. As El Niño looms, the UN warns this one could be the strongest in decades.

These are further reminders of the need for governments to shift beyond crisis-response to build systemic resilience. We’re building out more work on this, to support our partners adapt to this era of vulnerability and insecurity, and to come out thriving, not just surviving.

The UK net zero economy has been valued at £100bn a year, according to analysis commissioned by Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit.

Over 1 million people are employed in businesses related to net zero, accounting for £105bn in "gross value added" (which equates to almost 4% of the UK's economic output). Meanwhile, Oxford Smith School analysis shows a move towards electrification would be cheaper for UK households.
