Dear friends,
I’m Fi, and I’ve just joined Apolitical to head up our climate work. The first thing I want to share with you all is huge thanks for everything you are doing.
We are at the cusp of the largest economic transformation in human history, and you, our public servants, are its primary architects. That is a demanding, challenging, often thankless task, so thank you.
The work is also getting harder. As the shift from fossil to electric economies becomes inevitable, incumbents are fighting harder to defend the status quo. At the same time, the skills required to deliver the transition are evolving faster than most governments can train for: from green procurement and carbon budgeting, to nature-based finance and climate-resilient infrastructure design. Navigating this turbulence decisively is becoming increasingly challenging - but the impact of doing so will be transformative.
My background is in the climate campaigning and communications space: I used to run the UN Race to Zero campaign with the High Level Climate Champions, and more recently I’ve been working with Christiana Figueres and Tom Carnac at Global Optimism, seeking to shift the narrative on climate away from doom and despair towards a sense of evidence-based possibility.
I transitioned to Apolitical because, having spent the last decade working on the why and the what of climate action, I’m now curious to dive into the how. I believe we are laying the foundations for a new, more stable, more resilient economy and I am really excited to explore how we can help best equip you to do so.
